Abusive Relationships

Domestic abuse and violence can happen to anyone and is a problem that is often overlooked. Although women are more likely to be the ones abused, domestic violence does not discriminate. It can happen among heterosexual or same-sex partnerships within all ages, ethnic backgrounds, and economic levels.  An abuser can use anything from fear, guilt, intimidation, or even physical violence to keep you under their control. They might even threaten to hurt those close to you. The emotional consequences from abusive relationships can be severe, destroying your sense of self-worth or even leading to depression and causing you to struggle with future relationships in your life. The bottom line is abuse is never alright, whether it’s coming from a man or a woman.

Do you feel afraid of your partner?

Does your partner criticize or humiliate you?

Controls where you go and what you do?

Do you feel like you can’t do anything right for your partner?

All these and many more are signs that you could be in an abusive relationship. Most women are afraid of the repercussions they might suffer if they try leaving their partner or think “it’s only happened once he won’t do it again“. Domestic violence never goes away and your partner won’t just change their ways. You need to get yourself out of that situation as fast as possible. The book listed in the ad below is a great resource for women about all the red flags and signs of abusive relationships and how these women dealt with them. It teaches women how to take responsibility for their own safety and how to choose their partner wisely. It is available on Amazon in paperback or Kindle editions and is highly recommend if you or anyone you know is in an abusive relationship or you just want more information about the topic.
